Brolly-chan finally justified being hauled all the way from Tokyo: Typhoon #24 was incoming, so it started raining in quite a big way. This is one of those "two towns that have merged into one city" places: The question of whether to call it Fukuoka or Hakata might best be answered by the address of the hotel I was at: "Hakata Gion, Fukuoka 1-38, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka city".

Nagasaki

(October 27)

I'd planned to do this daytrip on the 26th, but postponed it to the second day in Hakata, in the hope that it'd be sunny. As things turned out, Typhoon #24 turned sharp-right and barely clipped Japan, and - as before - had lovely weather immediately behind it.
